5 Best Apps For Your New Zealand Travel Adventure

5 Best Travel Apps Blog by Health and Travel Insurance Brokers

We recently posted a blog with the top 10 travel apps that you can download in 2015, which made us think that we should also post a similar blog for travellers coming to New Zealand.  So here are our top picks of apps that will make your New Zealand trip a little bit easier:

CamperMate

This is an excellent app for those camping or travelling in New Zealand.  Supported by the Department of Conservation and backed by all the major campervan companies, CamperMate will help you navigate New Zealand by showing you the nearest facilities such as free designated campgrounds, public toilets, dump stations, free and paid campsites, petrol stations, public showers, free wifi zones, police stations, hospitals, recycling stations, supermarkets, hostels, real-time road alerts etc.  There are over 14,000 facility locations on the system, submitted by government organisations,  local councils and travellers.

Plus they're the only app to guarantee you won't get a freedom camping fine with their information.  If you're given a freedom camping fine due to their information being wrong, they'll pay it for you!

100% Pure New Zealand

From Tourism New Zealand, the 100% Pure app gives you offline access to the latest information about thousands of Kiwi travel experiences.  Included is a Top 10 NZ highlights, must-do experiences for 26 regions, photos, prices, maps and more.  Highly rated by loads of tourists this is an excellent app for those who don’t want to lug a guide book around.

New Zealand’s Great Walks

This app has history, details, routes, photos and more for New Zealand's Great Walks - our premier walking tracks that have some of the best scenery in the country.  The huts and tracks on the Great Walks are of a high standard and popular with locals and tourists alike.  So if you love hiking this is the app for you!

Airbnb

Lots of Kiwi’s have jumped onboard with this fantastic accommodation service.  There are now loads of places to stay throughout New Zealand, and especially in the cities where accommodation can be expensive.  You will find unique accommodation such as a tree hut, rooms with a view and country farm stays.  Check out the website first if you’re not familiar with this company.

TripAdvisor

We don’t all have the time or inclination to write a review about every attraction, restaurant or accommodation we visit, but for some it is second nature.  Thanks to these people TripAdvisor has become the biggest review website in the world.  Even small New Zealand towns have hospitality providers featuring on this site.  So if you want to know a good place for food, the best attractions and places to stay then check out what your fellow travellers have to say by downloading the TripAdvisor app.
