As many as 12,000 extra working holiday visas could be issued to people coming to NZ in the next 12 months; and people already here could have their NZ working holiday visa extended by 6 months if it is due to expire between 26 August 2022 and 31 May 2023.
The New Zealand Working Holiday Scheme has different number allocations capped for different countries and the four biggest capped schemes with greatest demand will be expanded by the end of September 2022. This is great news for people from Malaysia, Taiwan, Chile and Argentina, and then other countries will be rolled out over the next four months.
Employers in New Zealand need to advertise a job vacancy for two weeks to see if any locals are available and keen to take the role, and if not then a person on a working holiday visa may be eligible. Some of the industries where work for holiday visa holders is in demand include tourism, aged care, construction, meat processing, and horticulture.
If you are looking at travelling to New Zealand on a working holiday visa we can provide a comprehensive low cost health and travel policy that meets NZ immigration requirements. Get in touch with our friendly expert team today.
